Twitter Blue costs $8 per month, and users who pay for it will be able to keep their checkmarks. However, some of the world's biggest athletes, such as LeBron James and Patrick Mahomes, have said that they are not interested in paying to keep their checkmarks, even though they can easily afford to do so. Some athletes also expressed concerns that once verified checkmarks are wiped from the site, imposters could impersonate them by paying for a subscription to Twitter Blue. It remains to be seen how many notable celebrities will choose to pay for the service or leave the platform altogether.
