Musk says new color-coded verification system at Twitter will roll out in a week

Elon Musk is ready to try his troubled new verification system for Twitter once again. This time, in color.

The CEO of Twitter announced - via a tweet of course - that Twitter will roll out it's tentatively launching Verified on Friday next week. There are changes to the program that he apparently hopes will stop people from paying the $8 a month fee just to impersonate celebrities or companies.

“All verified accounts will be manually authenticated before check activates,” he tweeted. “Painful, but necessary.”

Musk didn’t specify what will be done manually, or how much that might delay the verification process, especially in light of deep staff cuts and departures at Twitter since he took control a month ago.

The new system will have a gold check for companies, a gray check for government entities and a blue for individuals, whether or not they are celebrities.

The Felon Running the Police Force

You guys get the first look at a story that truly defines "Legal Madness." We’re looking at Craig Lee, the interim Police Chief in Moreauville, Louisiana, who was running the department despite a felony conviction for sex with a minor on his record.

The Highlights:

The Federal Barrier: As a convicted felon, Lee was legally barred from possessing a firearm or even accessing the NCIC police database.

The Mayor’s Defense: The town leadership knew about his past but kept him in power anyway, claiming it was "a long time ago."

The Termination: Following a recent investigation, Lee has officially been terminated from the department.

This is what happens when small-town politics tries to ignore federal law. You can't have a chief who can't legally touch a gun.

Federal Investigation Targets NYC Council Member and Hochul Aide in Migrant Shelter Bribery Probe

Federal prosecutors are investigating New York City Council Member Farah Louis and her sister, Debbie Louis, a top aide to Governor Kathy Hochul, for allegedly accepting bribes to benefit a migrant shelter provider. The probe centers on whether the officials received kickbacks in exchange for steering city funds toward BHRAGS Home Care Corp., a nonprofit that has secured over $200 million in contracts since 2022. While four individuals associated with the nonprofit have already been charged with embezzling taxpayer money, the sisters remain under intense scrutiny as investigators execute search warrants to uncover the full extent of the alleged corruption scheme.

Bostonian of the Year Ordered to Repay $224K Stolen from Her Own Nonprofit

In a stunning fall from grace, a former Bostonian of the Year has been legally mandated to pay back $224,000 she embezzled from the very nonprofit organization she led. Investigators revealed that the funds, intended for community outreach and charitable programs, were instead diverted to personal expenses over a period of several years. The court's ruling marks a significant victory for transparency in the local nonprofit sector, though the betrayal of trust has left many donors and community members questioning the oversight of high-profile charitable leaders.
